good weekend

Ah, what a beautiful weekend it was...you just can't beat 70/80 degree weather in February!
I sat outside in my swimsuit two afternoons in a row (just for like an hour, but still)!
Funny, because I was doing the same exact thing at the end of February this time last year!
 Remember?!?
{don't judge my 8 week post-delivery belly, yuck}

Anywho, aside from getting some vitamin D, we had lots of fun with our friends and did lots of playing with our little guy. Nicholas was off early on Friday afternoon, so we headed to Taco Boy for happy hour and to meet up with some best buds...
his laughing, smirky face..hehe
gosh i think he's gorgeous, it's true...i'm allowed, i'm his mom, right??? :)
 And speaking of beauties...
Sweet little Kirksey's dad brought her to happy hour while her mom was back at work - I was way impressed with his skills. The Yoes were there, too, but of course I got zero pictures of adults while we were there!
Because we were sitting outside at Taco Boy and it was so casual (there were kids running all over the place), I let Mills get down and walk for a while (plus we had been there for like 2 hours at this point), and he kept trying to go play with these four other kids, three of which were boys.  He was trying so hard to keep up with them! Poor little guy...of the boys (probably about 5) was eating a quesadilla; Mills, being a little hungry hippo, went up the boy, tugged on his hand, and made a eating motion with his mouth. The boy said "get away, baby" and kneed him in the chest! What?!? Luckily it wasn't very hard and Mills wasn't phased. I just took him back to our table and of course he just beelined it back to the kiddos for more abuse.
Unfortunately I think that spoiled him, though, because he has wanted to get down from his high chair and walk around at two restaurants since then...not good, we gotta break that habit!

After Taco Boy, we headed home to put the little guy down, since it was almost nine, but Nicholas really wanted to go out with everyone, so he got the bright idea to call one of the fellows who said her daughter is a great babysitter! He actually had to call the hospital and have them connect him to her house...desperate measures! Amazingly enough, the babysitter wasn't doing anything and was at our house in less than 15 minutes, so we put Mills down before she got there, and off we went - I think it was a pretty sweet deal for both of us!
We met back up with everyone at Closed for Business.
 {yeah, the couple in the back left is getting married this month, can you tell???}

On Saturday morning I had an appointment with the new man in my life.
Oh, Jeremy. Sweet, sweet Jeremy.
Let me preface this by saying that my last hair appointment was in April of 2010, before that it was August of 2009, and previously December of 2008...
Yes, you read that right; that makes three hair appointments in the three years we've lived in Charleston.
Sick, right?
It's a good thing my hair is pretty naturally blonde or I would have had roots galore...luckily I don't get those, but I did need a touch of light and some length removed asap!
Ahh, I feel SO much better!
{Nicholas actually took these pictures so I could show my mom, but why not show the rest of you, too!}
Please ignore the lack of lip color {mom} or the extra lasagna from lunch that's on my chin, but I'm loving my new layers and volume. Given I hadn't done anything to it in these pics, but you get the idea!
Jeremy at Tabula Rasa is my new hero.
I even got $10 off because Renee referred me! I love a deal!
If you need a new stylist in your life {and obviously, you're here in charleston} I'll give you a $10 coupon, too!
All I have to say is I just love him.
Realistically, Nicholas need not worry about the new man in my life...if you know what I mean.

Nicholas had to moonlight on Saturday night, but Mills had a belated Valentine date with Callahan, so I tagged along with she and her parents to Mellow Mushroom. Unfortunately he was a high-maintenance date for the last half hour, but hopefully she'll give him a pass for this one! :)
Sunday afternoon Nicholas played golf and Mills and I enjoyed the beautiful weather by walking the cooper river bridge and playing at the park - AND we ran into Liz and Andrew!
Today we enjoyed lunch downtown at Sermet's with Ashley, Katie, and Kirksey! Mills' snotty nose was finally gone...for a day, but it came back today in full force and the poor little guy was running a temp of 101 tonight. I swear every time I take him to a public place where lots of kids are, he puts his mouth on something and the funk comes back...I feel for all you day care parents, geez! Kids are little germ havens!

Okay, to end all of my random babbling I'll leave you with some pics of the little guy from story time last week at the library with Calee and her "kids" and K&K
me and my buddy boy!
Hope your week is off to a great start!
Don't forget about the papercircus giveaway ending tonight at midnight!

PS - I've been bidding on/winning some awesome outfits for Mills' spring/summer wardrobe on ebay. Is it sick that I get this crazy adrenaline rush in the last thirty seconds of bidding EVERY time?!? It is, isn't it?? The thrill, the thrill!  :)

Girl time and giveaways...

It's almost the weekend - woohoo! :)
We had such a fun morning around here, but this afternoon has been hectic! I got peed on...twice...it's been a while since that has happened, and if you have a baby boy then you know just how far of a shot it can be.  The first time was on the changing table, and the second time was when I was changing him on the floor instead of the changing table (b/c the pad was drying...) and the squirmy little thing ran away from me then peed on the carpet...while he propped his hand on the wall..what?!?

Anywho, I'm excited for the weekend...which reminds me, a couple of weekends ago some girlfriends and I got together for a fun night at Bottles 'n Brushes in Mt. P
{since I didn't have my camera I had to steal Calee's from her blog} :)
We painted the pineapple fountain from downtown at Waterfront Park! Since all of us moved to Charleston at the same time for residency {and some of us are moving away this summer while others are staying, tear}, we thought it would be fun to paint something local that we would all have to keep in our homes!
This is the actual pineapple fountain, where we happened to have some family pictures taken at the end of the summer {same picture as in my header} Didn't everyone do a great job with their artwork???

Speaking of artistic skill, this brings me to my next point - a giveaway!!!
With much delay, I'm excited to finally being giving away a $20 credit from Andie at papercircus!

Remember those adorable wagon cutout cupcake toppers from Mills' first birthday?
They came from papercircus!

And those adorable party hats???
Yep, Andie from papercircus!
{And they are just the perfect size for little toddler heads!}

She has all kinds of cute things in her etsy shop HERE.

How fun would a Mickey party be...especially with these cute cupcake toppers, confetti, and favor bags!

She has precious circus-themed items...I'm digging this sign:

And how fun would these mermaid toppers be for a summer pool party?!?

Cute toppers for a first bday or baby shower...

And her birthday hat options are endless..she does all kinds of custom things, too!

This one is from a friend of mine, Heather's, daughter's first birthday party - so cute!

All you have to do to enter is:
(1) Be a follower and leave a comment letting me know you either already follow along or are a new follower (mandatory entry).
(2) Leave a separate comment with your favorite Disney character...just for fun and just for an extra entry...looking at all the Mickey stuff was fun, what can I say!

Contest ends on Monday, at midnight, and I'll announce the winner on Tuesday!
AND, I have a REALLY cute contest next week, too, especially for the little one in your life - stay tuned!
Hope you win!

We're baaaaaack!

Finally, right?!?
Our little munchkin has been sick...and we've all been germ-swapping and sharing around the fam...fun times!
We went to Dillon last weekend for Gray's birthday party, and by the time the weekend was over, Kelley had the stomach bug, then Grammy, then Mills, then Lulu, then Adam...and after this past weekend, Phil, too!
Poor little Millsy's symptoms started on Valentine's Day {it was very romantic, let me tell ya...} carried on randomly throughout the week, then I got sick as well. Thankfully it wasn't the stomach bug, but flu-like symptoms instead, that were over in 48 hours - whew!
 We're glad to have our little guy healthy, that's for sure!
 So I'll be playing catch-up, per the usual, over the next few days...
 but we sure have missed you here at the Wallace Word!
 And we're glad to be back in the blogosphere!
Xoxo!

Whirlwind week...

Talk about a whirlwind week, whew!
We headed over to Daniel Island to meet with an architect tonight. We met at Daniel Island Park, which is the neighborhood where there is a house built of the plan that we really liked...after tonight, scratch that...LOVE!!! We were just going to check out the outside of the house, to get an idea of the size and elevation...until someone came out of the house to grab the mail, and SCORE, we were in! They invited us right inside to look around - perfect. It was a custom plan for them, so we got to really get an idea of how they used the space and how the floor plan really worked - it flowed together seamlessly and was absolutely gorgeous. Afterwards, we headed to a coffee shop to sit down and talk a little bit about any changes we would want to make {very minimal} and just chat. We loved the architect. We felt such a great connection with him and after all of the wishy-washy-ness of what we were going to do, it felt so good to make some progress and it is really a perfect fit for us. We are pumped!
I'll definitely keep you guys posted, and I really appreciate the advice y'all have offered up on building, etc, because we have no idea what we're doing...life's a dance, you learn as you go, that's what they say, right? {well at least that's what some country singer said...}
We've also spent the majority of our spare time getting our house ready to go on the market, which will probably happen the week after next - time.freaking.flies.by.

However, we've also made time to have a little fun...
with our buddy, Jameson, at the Children's Museum...
 And at the library for story time...ps, Charleston mommas, have you been to this story time at the Charleston County Library on Wednesdays at 10:30am?? It is fabulous!
 They read books, sing songs, the kiddos get instruments, and then they pull out the toy bin - it's like Gymboree minus all of the equipment! And, it's FREE!!! Even better, right?!? Parking is even free in the garage right underneath!
They made valentines this week, too - precious.
Kirksey was kicking away while she watched the other kids playing!
We had a great time chatting with some of the other moms afterwards, too!
{We missed you though, Calee - hope you're feeling better, friend!}

Hoping to catch up on my blog reading manana!
