Nighty night!

I put Mills down at 10:00 tonight and it's almost midnight but I thought I'd post a quick little blurb (he slept 8 hours again last night so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!). We enjoyed a fun lunch today with Calee and Finley at the Mustard Seed, yum!
And do you remember this outfit???
That's right, the precious little outfit that he wore home from the hospital (thanks to Leah and Matt)! Well it had been a few weeks since I'd put it on him (b/c it's been so cold and we've been out and about!), so I decided to put in on him this afternoon and take a few pictures to compare...so what do you think??? Do you think he has grown at all??? :)
Haha, but time flies when you're having fun! :)
And after lunch Mills was a bit tired, so he napped and of course I, being me, photographed...
Good thing for him he won't forget his name, haha
And I'll leave ya with two little videos I took tonight of our bedtime routine.
Warning: These videos are not exciting at all...he does most of his smiling and talking earlier in the day and I got nothing but a sweet baby boy sitting there on camera (that and my annoying baby voice, haha), but it's a sweet baby boy nonetheless. So this is really for the grandparents/family. :)
Bathtime

(this is my first time adding videos so i hope they work!)
Nighty night!

Today's "Enjoyables"

No, it's not really a word. I just made it up, but it describes some of the things I've been enjoying in the past 24 hours.
Nicholas was fortunate enough to get the day off today, so last night he took over baby duty for an hour or so I and I enjoyed this:
with this glorious stuff (wonderful and so cheap - from Walmart!):
and one of these:
And got to catch up on some glossy reading (aka lots of magazines and catalogs I haven't had enough time to even flip through), but of course I ended up mainly reading The Nursing Mother's Companion... what can I say...baby on the brain! I'm thinking I need to invest in one of these bad boys:
{via amazon}

This morning, Nicholas insisted that I call and make an appointment for this:
And of course, who am I to object! :) So I joyfully enjoyed a fabulous massage this afternoon!
Speaking of other things I'm really enjoying right now, there's this delicious breakfast I've been loving since having Mills (and hey, supposedly oatmeal is supposed to increase your milk production - little tip for pregnant gals and new mommas - so who can argue with that!?!)
The cranberry honey multigrain is YUMMMMY!
And I'm about to have one of these right now:
Mmmm, we have the strawberry and tangerine and they are so good (and provide a good dessert option since I'm a dessert girl, and gave up chocolate for Lent!)
We also enjoy Monday night tv around here... How I Met Your Mother, Chuck, The Bachelor (thanks to my sis-in-law), and 24 - it's a battle of the DVR around here on Monday nights! :)
And I don't know if I'd call it "enjoyable," but here's a pretty funny story from this AM...so I was feeding Mills in bed early this morning - I was sitting up, of course, and Nicholas snuggled up next to me.  I put Mills up on my shoulder to burp him, and as I've mentioned before, he is quite the "spitter-upper." Well...he spit up and it trickled poured down RIGHT INTO NICHOLAS' FACE! It was all in his eyes and everything!!! Gross? Yes! But could I help but laugh for a good 30 seconds??? NO!! Baaahahahahahaha!  Lucky for us, and daddy's medical profession, it takes a lot to gross him out, so he wiped it off with his shirt and went back to sleep. Haha! :)  Good times.
And to complete my "enjoyables" post, of course I had to include these three cuties:
What did you enjoy today??? xoxo!

weekend fun

We had a nice, laid-back weekend around here... On Friday night we went to dinner with good friends...
the girls
the guys
the CUTEST little guy
Mills getting some love from Calee and Katie!

On Saturday, my mom and MaMa came in town! It had been FOUR WEEKS since they had seen him, so we did a lot of baby-watching/staring, as usual :)
4 generations!
MaMa talking to Mills after a trip to Tar-jay
And of course Mills did a lot of eating
And he got lots and lots of attention!! :) He was so happy and smiled so much this weekend - I think he liked all of the baby talk and conversations with Gammy and compliments from MaMa.  After all of the ego-boosting and sweet talking and baby kisses, this is what he did after they left...
passed out on the couch!
And he had a little catch-up time with dad since he had to work all weekend long (and overnight last night) - and yes, he was asleep with his arm up in the air like that, haha :)
And even though I'm gross and in PJ's, I still wanted to document some kisses from mommy. :)
love that little face!

Thursday randomness...

I had a fussy little guy on my hands today so not too much was accomplished (aka our "big plans" of getting to the grocery store, BB&B for coffee, CVS, and Target)!  Usually he is just precious in the morning hours then gets just a little fussy from about 3:30 to mid-evening, but today has been the opposite. Luckily, he's cool as a cucumber now! Check out what he's doing right this minute...
(Thanks, Leah!)

But fuss or no fuss, I'd take hanging out with this guy over anything else ANY day! :) During his nap this afternoon I quickly checked my work email and began to feel nauseous, boooooooo! Not even wanting to think about it yet!
On to other things! :) While we were visiting with the fam on Tuesday, Nicholas stopped by his dad's office to get his cholesterol checked and it turns out his LDL is a little high, so we're going to try to make a few more healthy decisions around our house so he doesn't need to start any kind of medication.  He's such a fast food junkie that he could cut that out and it would probably do the trick! (I can gladly pass up the fast food...just give me DESSERT!) :) Anywho, I made a list of recipes to make for next week (hence the grocery store trip that didn't happen today), and I'll let you know if any of them are just too fabulous not to pass along. :) And since I have started keeping the tv on during the day (the noise and bright color seems to help Mills notice the difference in night and day), I decided to turn it to Food Network for any possible inspiration. I caught a few good recipes, but this is one I decided NOT to make:
What is this??? You may be wondering... Ham and Banana Casserole. No, seriously.
The ingredients?
Deli ham, bananas, cheddar cheese, slices of white bread, bacon, butter, potato chips, and custard.
Sounds healthy, huh?  AND disgusting!!! Yucky, yucky, Paula! And I do love southern food, but really???
Well Nicholas just popped Mills in the baby bjorn for a little video game time, so I'm gonna run and take a SHOWER (oh, the little things!), and try to finish up addressing the birth announcements.  Have a good night!

cousins!

Yesterday we headed to Dillon for Nicholas to meet our first nephew for the FIRST time! It was my second time to see the sweet little guy, and he was even sweeter! :)
Here are some of the pictures we took!
Sweet siblings and their BABIES!
The guys and their little guys
close up
the sweet family
Mommas' boys
(somehow out of 4, i didn't get one single picture of us looking at the same camera, ha!)
Gray felt light as a feather after holding Mills!!!
Look how big my little one is in comparison! Even though it's only been 6 weeks, I still can't believe Mills was even smaller than Gray at one point! Look at those chunky little legs!!!
(this was during a wardrobe change for Mills)
The grandparents and both of their grandsons! Two in two months - that's a pretty fabulous addition!
Comparing baby feet...Gray's are just like his dad's - long and skinny - and Mills' are just like his dad - short and WIDE! :)
They are doing wonderfully and adjusting so well! It was so nice to have a day to spend with them!

TODAY, Kathy and Will came down from Columbia just to bring us lunch and hang out - how nice is that!?!?
Cutie pie Will peeping through the railing! ahh he is so precious! And he keeps his momma very busy running around keeping up with his busy little self! :) too stinkin' cute!
Aunt Kathy and Mills!
haha, so cute!
Thanks for coming to visit us! I needed your baby advice and appreciate your sweet friendship!
More posts to come this week - I'm on a [blog] roll! :)

my beautiful boy

More to come later on what we've been up to this week, but for now I just had to share these two sweet pictures from yesterday! (mom, click on the picture to make it bigger and see it close up!) :)
I think he looks a lot like me when I was a baby in this second one, but the verdict's still out! :)

Be Mine, VALENTINE!

"May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other"
1Thes. 3:12

We had a pretty low-key Valentine's Day - Nicholas worked until 6 or so and then the three of us went to dinner.  On Saturday night, however, Mills and Callahan had their first Valentine's Day dinner at a local mexican restaurant...don't worry, Nicholas and I and Leah and Matt tagged along for the date to chaperone! :)
Callahan, being the "older woman," was putting the moves on him... :)
Callahan is already reaching for daddy's wallet - TROUBLE!
Hope you had a happy V-day with the ones you love!

SNOW DAY!!!

That's right...in Charleston, South Carolina!!! For the first time in about a decade, Charleston got some of the pretty, white stuff!
The Heards came over for dinner last night and we enjoyed some tacos and fun! :) They just live a few houses down so they enjoyed a festive walk in the wintery weather! We couldn't get the babe out in the snow (although I did joke with my mom for a few minutes that I had Mills out making snow angels in the front yard for a photo opp, because "mom...how could I not document his first snow??? I mean, really??? I had him bundled up!!!" She was afraid of how she raised me for a few seconds...haha!), so this is the only family pic we managed to get...and you can't even see the SNOW!!!
...but we'll remember it was snowing, that's all that really matters, right???
At least you can see it in the background here
And since I am my mother's daughter...and I did, indeed, want to document the occasion of Mills' first SNOW, I made a little snowman just for him!
(since this was last minute, I have to tell you the things I rounded up for this little guy - twigs for the arms (obvi), permanent marker for the scarf and mouth, an orange sprinkle (which I had to dig out of a bottle of multicolored sprinkles) for the nose, chocolate chips for the eyes, and the lid to ground black pepper for the hat...all secured on with VASELINE, haha!!!!)
Unfortunately I waited until this afternoon when a lot of the snow had already melted, but I did take a few pics...
And thankfully Kelly made it back safely to Columbia before the snow came in, but she came down to meet Mills and we met for lunch yesterday at Basil (yum yum, and we missed you, Kath!).
Mills and Aunt Kelly!
It was so nice to catch up! We miss our Columbia friends and supper club!!!
Hope you had a little fun in the snow! Can you believe it snowed in 49 states yesterday!?!?
In a few years Mills will be LOVING snow days!!!
