Baby Sprinkle

Last weekend we went to Charleston for a sweet "sprinkle" for Baby Hayes!
{Kath, I'm still super impressed that you made those onesies!!!}
It was the perfect little intimate group, and we had such a great brunch at 82 Queen!
We were very blessed with lots of goodies just for baby boy #2!
Love this precious moses basket, which was filled with all sorts of great things!
 Hayes' outfit to wear home from the hospital, thanks to my mom!  We got lots of Pixie Lily goodies!
How is it that the little tinies from Pixie Lily smell SO delicious?!?
A teething necklace, which will time up quite nicely with football season (hence the orange) - that Liz is a thinker! ;)
 And the hostesses even packed in some things for big brother...like a matching outfit for the summer! :)
so cute.
 And a Sophie the Giraffe just for Hayes!
{you may remember Sophie's shenanigans with Mills...ha}
Me and two of the sweetest, best friends {and hostesses!} a girl could ask for - thanks so much, Leah and Kathy!  Love y'all!
It was good to catch up with some of my Charleston girlfriends, too - with Kerri!
{we missed you, Calee, Ashley, and Renee!}
The buoy painting for the nursery - thanks to Pappy and Lulu!
Thanks so much to my family for driving down and to my sweet girlfriends!  It was really nice to have a little celebration for this second bundle of joy on the way!

On this rainy Friday...

We enjoyed a play date/lunch date with friends earlier today - where we {briefly} played outside, painted, and played with Play Doh...all the makings of a fun day, right??  :)
Then the bottom fell out and we've been practically floating around here!
I tried this soup for lunch, and it was DELISH - perfect for a nasty day like today!  Pick some up for dinner and make your life easier amidst this nasty weather!
Then...on the way home the "hot now" sign was on...so I did what any {pregnant} girl in her right mind would do...
I pulled right in!  Of course the crucial point was the fact that they had a drive-thru, and it was worth every drop of rain pounding into my window for a dozen of those beauties...I mean, we needed a treat for the weekend, right?
And while I'm on the subject of food, I'll fill you in on a couple of other goodies...
These pancakes are amazingly delicious...no artificial ingredients, preservatives, or high fructose corn syrup...and as much fiber as a bowl of oatmeal.  I just put a little light butter on a couple of these in the morning and they are about the best thing ever!
And to throw in something else that's probably not too healthy, but perhaps delicious upon occasion...
Sonic now has sweet potato tots!  I'm not a big fan of fast food, but I pulled into Sonic to get a slushie after my dr. appt. on Tuesday, and these looked yummy - I'm a big fan of anything sweet potato, really.  Unfortunately, they were out! The person in front of me and behind me tried to order them, too.  The nice guy at the window said that the truck was supposed to be there earlier that morning, but got in a wreck...he also said that people were raving about them - have you given these a try?
This post was definitely a Fat Kid Friday kind of post {cosmo radio, anyone?}!  :)  Now I'm off to have a doughnut - Happy Friday! :)

Just checking in...

I haven't had much of a chance to read - much less, write - any blog posts around here!  Over the last week we've had some play dates, some work done at the house, we're working on getting the nursery/guest room together, AND I had an awesome long weekend in Charleston with some of my favorite girls at a "sprinkle" for Baby Hayes!  {thanks so much Leah, Kathy, and everyone else who came! I promise to post pictures as soon as I get them from Leah}  :)
It's been a crazy week!
AND, guess who peed and pooped in the potty Tuesday and Wednesday???  This guy!  {ha, I actually captured this photo of the very first time....not embarrassing at all, right?!?}
We're actually not doing anything to actively promote potty training right now.  As you know, Mills just turned two so I was really planning to wait closer to the summer, when he's around 2 1/2, and after the culture shock of adding a baby brother to the mix...in which case I'm sure he will revert back a little bit and I figured there's no sense in putting a lot of work and effort in something that won't stick...but, on Tuesday I was changing a dirty diaper and he wanted to sit on his little potty and look at a "magazine"...I figured nothing would happen, but boom, he went potty!  Then last night before his bath I asked if he wanted to sit on the potty {we have a potty seat in with the seat in our master bathroom}...he did, and I let him prop his feet on his little footstool and take a look at the good ole Southern Living...and he went again!  He's still mainly going in his diaper, but I'm happy with this casual potty thing, and I'm really glad he's getting familiar with it, especially per his own terms.  Maybe at least we'll have some baby steps toward the potty training down for the summer!
Man, we are loving this nice weather, too - Mills was swinging last night until it was dark outside.  And today was beautiful!
And in other news...I'm officially "full term" today...37 weeks - woohoo!  At my appointment on Tuesday they hooked me up to the monitor for a little while {just because the heart rate was going up and down and the doctor wanted to be 100% sure everything was okay} - thankfully everything looked normal over a longer time period, but they said I was contracting...so weird because I couldn't even feel it! They didn't check me this week, so not sure about the whole dilation thing, but I'm sure I'll be lucky enough to be checked again at my next appointment, ha! :)
I'm feeling...very pregnant!!!
I'll try to take a picture and post it tomorrow - just for my own record.  And that's all for today!  We had a work event for Nicholas tonight and I am about to fall over tired!  Night, y'all!

Hey Valentine

We had a pretty low key Valentine's Day around here...Mills and I made red/pink play dough...

{my camera has been in Nicholas' car since our trip to Asheville...I've really gotta get it out, haha, but thank goodness for cell phone pics!}
Some little guy refused to change out of his PJs, and wanted to use Harley-girl as a bench...
We did finally talk him into changing when Daddy got home, so that we could go out to dinner.
My valentines at dinner...either Mills is inheriting his dad's infamous eye-closing-during-photos trait, or the flash on the iphone is just too much for him!
Our attempt at a self-portrait = Nicholas being silly.
We enjoyed some cuddles before bedtime, Nicholas and I watched a show or two, and there you have it, my friends!  Fancy Valentine's Day...I know! :)

35 weeks, nap time project, and other randomness...

Today marks 35 weeks, my friends!  I had my appointment on Monday and the doctor estimated that the baby is about 6 lbs right now - he said he didn't think I'd get to 7 lbs 10 oz again (Mills), unless I was "hiding it," but I had gained the same amount of weight last time, so who really knows!  He estimated right at 7 lbs, so we shall see!  Although I'm sure it can still change, the baby is already head down {in my pelvis, which explains the pressure}, and everything seemed to be normal, which is great!  Now I'll start going every week, which is always fun! :)  No major changes since last week, although I did forget to note that I'm loving being able to go four days without washing my hair...awesome pregnancy perk!  :)
In other news, I made my first attempt at making curtains for the house.  I wanted a simple little curtain for our guest bathroom, and I thought I could do it myself...
...turns out I was right!  :)  The best part is that I did it all during one of Mills' naps last week - I was very proud of myself, haha!

A little of what we've been up to...
{all via cell phone pics}
Mills had fun at his friend, Derrick's, birthday party on Saturday!
He even got to test out the birthday boy's new tractor, and enjoy his first sucker! :)
I left for a girls' night at the beach from the party, and Nicholas took daddy duty Saturday night - after they got home from the party Mills also proceeded to poop in the bathtub for the first time...on his Daddy's watch, thank goodness! :)  {I figure if he does colonoscopies all day long, a little poopie in the tub can't hurt him, ha!}  The funny thing is we were just talking the other day about how Mills had never done that...shoulda knocked on wood!!!  ;)
Hanging out on the couch after going to Pappy's pre-Nicaragua mission trip dinner...
and maybe being a little bit silly!
Hanging out with sista Harley.
And jumping on the trampoline at Anna & Will's house...haha!! :)
Mills also had his 2-year-old checkup with the pediatrician.  Poor booger had to get two shots, then go get blood drawn (the same way adults do...arm tied with a rubber band and all...so pitiful!).  His iron is a little low so we've gotta find some vitamins to get a little extra boost, but he is a healthy little guy - for which we are very thankful!  He was in the 49th percentile for height, and 50th percentile for weight - right on target!
We've had a fun week around here!
