(okay, background story...so a while back, Betsy {technically my "aunt-in-law," but young and fun and way more than that, really} was having a rough day with her kids... I think Dylan was throwing a temper tantrum, Madison was screaming, something along those lines. So my father-in-law was watching them, just kind of smiling at her. Betsy turned to him and said, "You're laughing at my life, aren't you???" Now we just laugh about it.)
Anywho, so Jennifer and Gray stayed with us through Monday night and we were so glad! Haha, and Jennifer and I had one of those "laugh at our life" kind of days on Monday... :)
Well to start off by backtracking, Sunday we did absolutely nothing all.day.long. {and by nothing I mean lots of baby playing and nursing and diaper changing...but no showering or applying makeup or changing clothes...or maybe not even brushing our teeth until 5 or 6 pm, but I'm not verifying either way} ;)
As evidenced by this picture:
And this one, too (clearly I have no blogging shame...don't judge me)
On Monday we ventured out with both of the little guys for lunch and a little shopping. Of course we parked about two miles away from the restaurant (because we changed our minds), but we had a tasty meal at Magnolia's. Of course I forgot that Magnolia's has A LOT of stairs for two fairly cumbersome strollers (usually I park right next door and don't have the stroller!), so after blocking the entrance for a good 5 minutes and having numerous people help us up the stairs to the hostess stand then down the stairs to the table area, we maneuvered between the tables to get to ours at the back and finally have a seat! Whew, drama I tell you! This baby business is no easy feat!
And poor Gray was not a happy camper, he wanted to be
held while his mommy ate... Of course, because that's the
most comfy place to sleep you know. He needed a diaper change (2nd floor restroom, mind you) and some walking around, too. Mills stayed in his seat in the stroller, but he did require some back-and-forth movement as well.
Then we hit the streets again...between Jennifer's dress blowing up multiple times and flashing strangers (and me, too!) and me banging the stroller into numerous stationary objects (we're talking doors, signs, whatever...poor Mills), we were a hot mess. We even banged our own stroller wheels into each others' a few times too, because neither one of us can walk in a straight line, and who doesn't want to at least attempt to walk next to each other and chat while strolling along??? Fail. (And to our defense, the streets of Charleston aren't exactly the widest around.) We shopped around, but the most memorable stop being bathing suit shopping...because what new mom doesn't want to do that, right?!? I do love
Everything but Water - I always get a suit there each year, because they come in separates (so I can get a bigger top than bottom, and their tops are very supportive, thank goodness....oh, and Jennifer now knows the difficulty of shopping for bathing suit tops with a larger chest. Strapless top?? I don't think so! Because the cups are never big enough for how tight around you need it to be - FINALLY someone understands!!!) Okay, enough ranting babble... they have some great designers and patterns, too. I never noticed, until Monday, that they also have
really really small dressing rooms. Or maybe that's just when you're trying to fit a stroller in there!!! We spent quite a while in there...so long that the boys got hungry and started screaming...and hey, desperate times call for desperate measures, so I actually nursed Mills, sitting in the teeny tiny dressing room, in nothing but a thong (the one they give you to try on bathing suits in), having to face myself in the dressing room mirror the whole time - now
that's something I've never done before. TMI, I know, but it's my blog and I kind of want to remember that hysterical moment. :) Not to mention the fact that while he was eating he reached up and grabbed one of the bathing suit bottoms on the hanger, and the nasty, sticky liner thingy stuck to his hand!!! Blechhhhh! I had to sanitize his hand then rinse it off! Then I had to change his diaper across the hall in Jennifer's room, ha! But it was all worth the craziness because I ended up with a fabulous new suit!
This little number is so cute, and the color is just striking in person!
We needed a break after all of this action!
These two little guys were shopping champs:
And for the grand finale... we didn't realize that the parking lot we were in only took cash...our tab was $8 and with cars packed behind us and all of our might, we were only able to scrounge up $4.50 in change between the two of us. Panic mode. THANK GOODNESS I had some birthday cash that my mom had lodged down in the back of my wallet...or else we may still be there!!! :)
After all that, Nicholas, Mills, and I enjoyed dinner and drinks with his general medicine team at Triangle...ahh!
We had such a crazy, fun day! ...And I'm still laughing thinking back on it!!! :)
