Trunk-or-Treat!

Last night we had a fun little event at church for the kiddos...I mainly just snapped a couple of pictures at the beginning, but you'll get the point!  :)
Me and my little lion...roarrr!  He is actually going to be a tiger on Halloween (and for another event on Saturday), but I thought it would be fun to mix it up a little, especially since we had his costume from last year still in the closet.  It was 12-24 months and swallowed him last year, but fit perfectly this year.  Talk about getting your money's worth (see, babe?!?)!  ;)
Last Halloween
Remember this little guy???

 People arriving and hanging out...
A couple of our trunks...
Betsy really went all out - complete with mums and blinking lights! :)
 Who are those crazy girls?!?
 Betsy and Jennifer - Jennifer & Jess decorated their golf cart - don't have any pics but it was cute.
 I only found out the day of that it was a "trunk-or-treat" event...so I just threw everything orange and/or pumpkin in the car, ha!
And the little kiddos enjoyed playing in the jump castle.
Pretty crazy that they let lions run around in there, right?!?  ;)
 Cousin Gray!!  ...who was "little Jess," by the way! :)
cuties
Pilot Chase and his grandmother!
We should have dressed Harley up for the occasion!  {and Dylan's in the background, if you can spot him in all his sneaky ninja-ness}
We attempted a picture of some of the kids...but Mills was ready for that mane to come off and had little concern for the photo op...
"That's it, people..."
Me and B
 Last attempt at a group shot...unfortunately neither Jennifer nor I could get it together for the same picture, as evidenced above and below, ha!  :)  But it'll work!
Fun night with lots of sweet wee ones!

Wordless Wednesday

"Seriously, mom - it's been how long since you last blogged?!?"
"This is just getting to be embarrassing."

We've been busy with all things pumpkin...
{our carving day}
but I'll be back tomorrow with pictures from our "Trunk or Treat" at church tonight, and a fabulous recipe for you on Friday...because I totally owe you! :)

It's a...

Sorry to keep you waiting {although most of you know by now!}...
But on Monday we headed to our anatomy scan/gender reveal appointment. Nicholas and Mills watching on as we looked at all of the body parts, got measurements, and found out baby #2 is a
BOY!!! :)
We were SO excited!
Family photo {still sitting on the table}...on a side note, I really missed the technological facilities of our Charleston OBGYN office...no 3D/4D at this appt (you can do it later here, but it's not included - boo), and the ultrasonographer was less than cheery...I'll leave it at that.  But I do LOVE my doctor, so that makes up for it.
But the main story of the day?  A healthy, precious, baby boy!  From what we could see, he appears to look just like his big brother at this point.  That's a good thing, because we think he's pretty cute.  ;)  I'll try to share some pictures later this week!

We grabbed some lunch after the appointment, and then found a new cupcake bakery in town, Sweet, and it was delicious!  You know me and my love affair with cupcakes.
I don't know why I look weird in the first picture, but milk in a bottle - yum!
Proud soon-to-be big brother! :)

Monday night the fam came over to celebrate - typical kiddos running around. :)
 I look like I'm playing "teacher" here, but we were taking a tally on boy vs. girl!
The total was 4 girl vs. 7 boys...our moms and my grandmother didn't vote because they already knew (obviously neither did we)!
 The reveal!!!  {I took the easy way out and had blue "BOY" cupcake toppers made...we had a busy day!}
 "If being a big brother means cupcakes...I think I'm okay with this deal."
We're so excited for Mills to have a best buddy, and to add another sweet boy to our family!

Tomorrow's the big day!

Tomorrow we find out if Baby Wallace #2 is a boy or a girl.  More importantly, we have the anatomy scan where we make sure that this sweet baby is HEALTHY!
As for a "feeling" on my end as to one gender or the other...I've got nothing.  I didn't with Mills, either!  As for a preference...NADA!  I can 100% honestly, truly say that I don't care what the gender of this baby is...I'm just excited to find out which way our family will be expanding.  Will I have another precious, little baby boy to be best buds with his big brother?  Or a darling, baby girl to dress up and get pedicures with?
We shall see!
If you know us well, you know that Nicholas and I want a big family - we still say three or four kiddos, so we'll see what the Lord has in store for us!  It's funny, because some people say, "Oh, I hope you have a girl this time," or "You must really be hoping for a girl this time around."  Nope.  I would have said that for sure before I have Mills...I thought, "I know girls."  Now, I feel like I've got the whole boy thing now (...at least thus far).  I love me some baby boys.  I think it would be so nice for Mills to have a brother so close in age so they could be the best of friends (and of course play on the same sports teams, which is Nicholas' main focus).  :)  And of course, I would love to have a girl at some point, too, so having a girl would totally take the pressure off down the road, haha!  :)  Plus, I could totally go crazy on some girl clothes. :)  I could totally see us having three boys then a girl...but what do I know!?!  Either way, like I said before, I'm just excited to plan and hope and dream about this newest addition to our family and the person he or she will be.  Please say a quick prayer that this sweet baby is healthy and that things will go smoothly tomorrow.  We can't wait to share the news!

All of the Lights

Nicholas and I have been into watching The Sing Off this season {although we both laugh out loud every.single.time. Nick Lachey says, "Now it's time to sing your swan song"...which is the goodbye song for whoever gets voted off, and we think it's the dumbest, silliest name ever}.  Anywho, back to the post at hand...another thing I'm into...in case you haven't noticed...is Clemson football, so I thought I'd pass along a little a cappella action from the boys of Tigeroar!

{the guy "rapping" kinda cracks me up, but I LURVE the main singer's voice!}

And to continue the theme, here are some pics of Mills and Harley {via cell} watching the game on Saturday.
Now that's a good dog...and bench! :)
 best buds
 TOUCHDOWN!!!  {ignore the cray-cray red eyes}
 "Harley I'm SO excited!!!"
Then he felt the need to express his crazy enthusiasm and just threw his shirt over his head and left it like that for about 20 minutes...I have no clue what inspired him to do that.  As usual, pants optional.
 Crazy, cute kiddo! :)

Mills' first {and hopefully only} trip to the ER...

{wishful thinking...he's a boy, right?!?}
So I mentioned in the last post that we were a little under the weather...well I got better and Mills seemed to just get worse.  He had an all-day-PJ-wearing week, pretty much.
 {just some randoms I snapped on my phone while we were playing}

We talked to the pediatrician a couple of times last week and he called in some allergy medicine and an antibiotic - we were thinking his cold would just clear up.  On Thursday I had to work at the Merry Marketplace for Junior League, so a sweet girl in town, Erin, kept Mills all afternoon.  She said he just watched TV with her and fell asleep in her arms (not my usual active boy!), but after his nap he was running around and acting normal again.  Nicholas and I were planning to go to a family wedding in D.C. this weekend, but after finding out that Mills still had a fever Thursday afternoon (and my mom was sick and they were supposed to keep him) we decided I would stay with Mills, and Nicholas would make the trip with the rest of the fam....as long as Mills wasn't worse Friday morning...
Then came Thursday late night/Friday at 3:00 am...
I woke up to hear Mills screaming "Mommy, Mommy!!!" and crying in his crib.  Our child rarely wakes up in the middle of the night...like once every three months or so...that's like four times a year.
Something was wrong with the little guy.
I picked him up and he was radiating heat!!!  After monitoring his temperature pretty frequently over the last week, I knew that he had to be close to 105!  I sat Mills in bed with me and Nicholas ran downstairs to get the thermometer and Tylenol.  I yelled down for him to get some juice, too.  Mills was crying still, unconsolable, but was also shaking a little (chilled from the fever, I think), and he started nodding off a little, like he was sleepy, but that wasn't it.  Thinking of my friends' kids who had had seizures with a high fever before, I started freaking out and yelled down to Nicholas, "FORGET THE JUICE - GET UP HERE NOW!"  Mills refused the Tylenol so we had to force it down his throat while he screamed. Not fun.  His temp under the arm was over 104, and he could barely breathe - he was wheezing like crazy, and we were worried.  Even Nicholas, mr. doctor man, said, "I think we should take him to the ER."
So we got downstairs and I was sitting on the couch trying to calm Mills down and just cuddling with him while he tried to breathe.  Nicholas - thankfully - was on call, and got a call from the ER about that time.  The ER doc could hear Mills in the background and said we should bring him up there.  When we got there his temp rectally was 104 (and he had had Tylenol in his system for close to 45 mins), so they gave him motrin and something else to bring his fever down.  The the respiratory therapist came in and started his breathing treatment...which he HATED...screamed the whole time.  During that time he also got a steroid shot.  I was in charge of holding him and his hands down the whole time...poor guy.  But after the treatment was over it was AMAZING how much better he could breathe!  He had a chest x-ray, too, just to rule out pneumonia.  The doctor said we made a good choice to bring him when we did, that he needed to be there (which I'll remind myself of whenever we get the bill in the mail...yikes).  Between every shot and test he would just cuddle up under my neck and lay there, sweet little body sweating and curls all wet on his little head...sad but sweet.  He was really pitiful and we were worried.  Nicholas thought they may even have to admit him because of his O2 stats, but thankfully they went up just enough.  We left with prescriptions for a stronger antibiotic, stronger cough medicine, and steroids...and thankfully he's doing SO much better!
By the time we got home from the hospital, around 5 or so, he was back to talking and said, "CARS" right as we walked in and wanted to play, ha!  We put him in bed with us and he slept until about 8:15 or so.
This was Friday morning...you can tell he was not feeling too great, cuddling with his doggy and watching TV.  Obviously, Nicholas decided to stay with us (which I was thankful for...to have both his daddy-ness and his medical expertise for the weekend, just in case!).  And of course Mills was a little cranky and needy - as to be expected - and it was nice to have Nicholas home to help!  I think Mills has been catching up on sleep from Thursday night because he's been going to bed early and sleeping in LATE, which is good, because we need to catch up, too!  Today is the first day he has been back to his usual self, as far as playing and personality goes - and we are so glad to see it!  He still has a nasty cough, but we're so glad he is so much better.  We're so thankful for the many thoughts, prayers, and messages sent our way over the past couple of days.  We had a low-key and lazy weekend (full of football, of course...Go Tigers!), which was just what we needed!
Hoping for no more croup around here.
Oh how we love our precious boy!!!

Go Tigers!!!

If you're a Clemson fan you've probably seen this video by now, of the fans gathered at Death Valley to welcome the players back from their big win over Virginia Tech! But guess who LOVES this video???
This guy!

Yesterday would have been my Dad's 55th birthday, and as Mills ate breakfast, he clapped and screamed and "woohoo-ed" while watching this video with me! :)  He was yelling with the crowd, "Da-bo, da-bo!" Hilarious.  And he really gets into "E-R-E-R-E-R-SSSSSS" {which is supposed to be T-I-G-E-R-S!}
Since my Dad, too, was a big Clemson fan, I thought he probably would have appreciated this little tiger cheering along. :)
My dad and I at a game way back when...

We were at the beach with our bestest buds over the weekend, but we sure did enjoy watching the game on Saturday afternoon!  Unfortunately, Mills and I have been a little under the weather since Sunday afternoon, but I've been attempting to nurse my little snotty-nosed, slightly cranky/needy pants back to health.  :)  And the poor little guy lost his balance sliding off of a bench on Sunday afternoon and busted his chin on the concrete (and his two bottom teeth tore into the inside of his gum a little bit), so he looks like a pitiful little site...but a precious little site all the same.
Nighty night!
