bad blogger

sorry, friends. we have just been so stinkin' busy!

Last week was full - I posted on Monday while Nicholas was working late, then Tuesday night I had Bunko with the girls, Nicholas' aunt and uncle - Mike and Maria - came up from Miami to visit on Wednesday, we went to the DMB concert Wednesday night with a fun group of family and friends {where I smelled the odor of lots of hippies/college kids smoking A LOT of pot. calee and I were a little horrified. i said more than a few prayers for mills and his future taste in girls as i watched lots of pretty girls in front of us bend over and take huge puffs of this big ole pipe kinda thing. WHAT?!?!? don't they know that is ILLEGAL? HELLO?!?!?!?}
But the concert was GREAT - it was my 4th Dave concert and he didn't disappoint! Oh, and I ran into Anne, too {great to see ya, girlfriend}! :)
On Thursday, Mills and I took Mike and Maria around for a tour of Charleston. We met Nicholas at Hominy Grill for lunch, then walked around downtown all afternoon (more pics to come from that later). It was their first time...can you believe??? The five of us had dinner at Cypress Thursday night, and as usual, it was wonderful...one of our best experiences there, actually!
Too bad we didn't get a really good shot, but it was late, we were tired, and there were lots of people walking by...and a baby that was up way past his bedtime!
They headed out on Friday morning, Nicholas worked late, then we headed to Dillon on Saturday morning for an engagement dinner at the Jacobs' house for Adam and Kelley Saturday night. I'm stuffed just thinking about all of the food I have consumed in the past couple of days! It was an intimate little group and it was fun to celebrate the newly-engaged couple! PLUS, Adam's mom is one of the best cooks EVER, and the meal was absolutely out.of.this.world. No, seriously. A seven-layer salad, homemade rolls w/ fresh rosemary and sea salt, amazing cheesy potatoes, the most delicious green bean casserole you have ever had in your life (like, no canned soup or beans used here, friends...crispy beans with fresh mushrooms and who knows what other wonderfulness), beef tenderloin, and a to-die-for strawberry shortcake.  She doesn't mess around. Luckily she is a kind recipe-sharer so I will pass the wealth along when I receive it. holy moly deliciousness.
Now that I have spent an entire paragraph talking about food, I digress...
In addition to the busy week, our dryer's heating element went out - which meant hauling laundry to our VERY DEAR neighbors' house for multiple drying loads - and Mills' knocked my cup of coffee over on my cell phone (I know, I should know about those quick little hands of his by now), and it was D.O.N.E.  Unfortunately my phone insurance (which is a great investment for us b/c we've used it more than a few times) doesn't cover water - or coffee - damage, so I was going to have to pay for a new blackberry {which I've had forever and have been completely loyal to up until this point} AND go another day sans cellular...ugh. I was eligible for an upgrade, so I bit the bullet.
I give you my newest little friend, the Droid Pro. And I'm loving it.
Nicholas has the Droid X and is obsessed, but I'm partial to the "real" keypad like that of my former blackberry...so here you go, the best of both worlds.
Seriously, why did I hold out for so long?!?

Mills loved getting to play with his cousins over the weekend, and we'll be on the move again later this week for the Thanksgiving holiday!
"follow the leader!"
I pinky promise to post every day between now and then.
fo' real. :)

Party house!!!

That was us this weekend!!!
Friday night we had the MUSC wine tasting event at our house and Saturday night we had a BBQ Baby Shower for the Heards! It was a fabulous and exhausting weekend all at the same time!
Friday night festivities!
Backyard ready for fun!
Fire pit, too!
Delish spread...Beth did a great job organizing all of the corresponding foods with the wines that everyone was bringing!
Party peeps
Hey Calee!
What can I say...she has a sixth sense when it comes to cameras being on her, ha! :)
Girlfriends!
We put quite a dent in the food!
Each wine bottle was covered, and everyone had to guess the type. We separated them into white and red categories, with a little "halftime" in between, followed by dessert wines.
{"wait, where did the port go???" ya had to be there for that one!}
Kerri and Beth...Kerri won the contest, thanks to her hubby, Nick! Evidently dermatologists know their vino selections! I don't think any of us internal medicine gals can give any of our husbands any credit there...well, maybe except for Katie..because she was drinking sparkling grape juice and we all know how competitive homegirl is when it comes to contests, ha! :) Unfortunately Richard didn't pull through for her.  Luckily for Kerri, she won this amazing Southern Living pitcher - jealous!
Our boys!
Us girls!
and a couple more girl shots...thanks to Calee!

Saturday was dedicated to celebrating Baby Girl Heard!
...Actually she has a name now...Kirksey Brooke Heard!
Wait a minute...this dining room looks familiar...HA!
I made these yummy pumpkin cupcakes...recipe found HERE
I have to admit that I'm usually a complete PERFECTIONIST when it comes to decorating cupcakes {just ask one of my college bffs, Danielle, about the story when she tried to help me decorate my cupcakes and I kept telling her she "could eat that one" because I couldn't bear to tell her that I was a cupcake decorating psycho and hurt her feelings!}
...however, being that I was icing these bad boys at 4:45pm and the shower started at 5 o'clock...I gave up my handy decorating utensil, and cupcake perfection pride, and slopped that delicious stuff on there as fast as I could manage!
BBQ spread...complete with bottles of "Baby-Q" sauce! Unfortunately I didn't have time to snap pictures of the details, ah!
...as the baby loot started arriving!
Hostesses (and host!) with the momma-to-be!
A few more gals!
Then it was game time!!! {in more ways than one...football games played on the tv the whole time, haha!} We played the tissue paper measure around the couple game, blind baby food taste test game, and  a Play-Doh baby-molding game.
Uh-oh...somebody found a new toy!
Richard and Katie got to select the best Play-Doh baby artist!
There was some serious competition, but the Merriams' baby (middle, bottom, pink & white, complete with bow in hair and bottle in hand) won...since the Schonfelds had already won everything, ha!
Then there was s'more roasting in the fire pit...and SNACK TIME for the wee ones!
Have you ever seen a cuter pair?!?
such cool kids!
Mills decided to follow suit and put on his PJs as well.
He begged me to put on his "Future Mr. Right" PJs...in honor of his current girlfriend and girlfriend-to-be.
Unfortunately smiles were hard to come by, because it was late and past mr. man's bedtime, but we managed a few...
We had a great weekend with friends and celebrating Baby Kirksey Heard! After an extremely busy weekend we're laying low around here, in recovery mode!
Nicholas played golf yesterday afternoon with Richard and Matt, too! I was thiiiiiiiis close to saying, "sorry, honey..no can do" but we made a trade-off...he let me sleep in until 10:30 after I fed Mills, so that was a deal I couldn't resist! :)  Mills and I met Leah and Callahan later at the mall, and the kiddos had a little ice cream date at Wholly Cow. Matt dropped Nicholas off after golf and we had dinner at Sesame. Mills had his first hotdog (I cut it up into little tiny pieces) and he was a BIG fan! :)  To try something new I ordered their turkey burger and it was the BEST ever! YUM! Okay, I'm tired again just typing all of that, ha!  Nighty night!

Zulily today!

Quick post to share that Zulily has some cute smocked clothing today (by vive la fete) for some great deals, especially for the holidays! Mills scored this sweet little set for $28, plus 10% off with code SUNDAY10 (which expires today I think)!
Usually the good stuff goes fast, but if you check it out early in the day you may be able to rack up on some adorable stuff! Here's the link! Happy shopping!
By the way, I'll be back later today with an actual post about life in the Wallace house - it's been
caaa-razzzy around here!

Quickie!

I've had a needy little one today, like big time!
He needed me pretty much nonstop today, his schedule was off due to the time change (which means earlier mornings, BOO!), and he even needed to be rocked to sleep tonight...by no one but his momma, of course. I did soak up the moment of his sweet little head asleep on my shoulder though...ahh, bliss!
So due to my needed day, I'm just now getting on the computer, and it's already late, so just a couple of pictures from dinner a couple of weeks ago for your viewing pleasure. :)
of this cutie...
{silly lil goofball cutie}
and his hot date! :)
{and her parents, too!}
This little one was zonked from a long day at school!
Don't worry, she wasn't passed out due to the boredom of her date...she was just exhausted from his dashing good looks and that charming smile, right??? :)
Hope your week is off to a great start!
Mills also wants to send a Happy Birthday shout out to his Aunt Kelley - the big 2-2! Love you!!!

Double Digits!!

This sweet little guy is TEN MONTHS OLD...can you believe it?!?
This post will be short and sweet, because we're heading out of town for the weekend in about 2.2 seconds, but...
Sweet little Mills...what are you up to this month???
-You're almost at 20lbs and you love to eat...especially "real" food! You still nurse/have a bottle 5x a day, too, but you're definitely consuming a lot more big boy food! Oh, and you can hold your bottle on your own now!!!
-You're still a crawling champ and you are stinkin' FAST! The second your daddy comes in from work you make a beeline to the front door and he LOVES it! :)
-You're saying "ma-ma," "da-da," "ba-ba" and lots of other jibber jabber pretty much nonstop...I have no idea where you get that from! ;)
-You're doing way better with your separation anxiety issues (haha) but you're still a momma's boy.  :)
-You can now crawl up the stairs - with a slight bit of assistance from time to time - and just this afternoon you crawled down one, from the top...nearly gave me heart failure and I rushed to you as fast as possible. Thank the good Lord you stopped there!!! Looks like we need a gate, huh?
-You're so well-behaved when you're out and about. We take you pretty much anywhere and you are such a good baby. We've taken you to two of the residency interview dinners this week (hey, free food at delicious Charleston restaurants...and the chiefs said you were always welcome!) and numerous people have commented on how GOOD you were! :) We're so thankful for that because your Daddy and I are "out and about" people and we like to do stuff!
We think you're the greatest thing since sliced bread and we love you to pieces!!! :)
You are more fun with every single day that passes!
xoxo,
Mommy and Daddy
We can't believe how fast you're growing!
